Who knows?

So this was going to be a place or me to post about all things Georgia Football.  Thing is, I may just want to come here and type random stuff so I think that is what I am going to do.  I am a Dawgfan but that doesn’t mean all I have to say is Dawg-related.. who knows.. this could be a great place to  post pictures and notes as my wife and I travel across the country to our soon to be new home in Newport Beach, CA. I am sure when I get there I will  have rants and rambles about living in a state other than Georgia for the first time in my life.

So that is how it’s gonna be.  I still plan to post anything I can find here related to Georgia Football but that will be with anything else that comes to mind that I would like to share.

Have a good one.

Been away for awhile…

Yeah, so maybe I have repressed the last game of the regular season as well as a few of the early ones but as usual Mark Richt blessed us dawgfans with a helluva lotta wins in 2008… And you still hear people making “down” or “off-year” comments. If that many wins becomes synonymous with an off-year then sign me up.

Well, it’s the week before the annual Spring scrimmage or G-Day to us dawgfans. It’s the little taste of that we live and breathe for several months of the year and then wait on the edge of our seat for it to come back again. Its the prelude to the greatest months in the year when we have trouble sleeping Friday night like little children because when we wake up on Saturday it’s Gameday. It’s Saturday. While we are sipping on a Bloody Mary the boys in red are getting their gear together and taking their minds to where it goes on Gameday. When we are several beers and a burger in the guys in red are likely getting ready to hop on a bus and head on down to Sanford Stadium. Then. Then they see us and we see them for the first time on that Saturday. It’s Dawgwalk time where emotions are high and….

That’s all you get.

That’s exactly what G-Day feels like.

It’s that feeling of nirvana when all dawgfans are in the place they live to be and before you know it it’s over. Over. Then the long road to game 1 starts.

Don’t get me wrong. I love G-Day. I love any moment of my life spent in Athens, GA and even better up near the Hedges. But man…it sure teases for what is yet to come. Thing is, it is going to come and we will be there in our Red & Black enjoying a Saturday in the sun.

so how many touchdowns?

The question is how many TDs can the to-this-point-in-the-season highly ineffective TN offense score on Georgia? One?  Five?  Seriously, if you are a Georgia fan you don’t REALLY know.

This post is going to be a complete ramble as I, like many other hardcore Georgia fans, have yet to come back from behind the woodshed that Bama took us to.  You don’t see many like that with two SEC teams like GA and Bama facing off but someone forgot to tell Bama that the Black Jerseys meant we were just supposed to show up and automatically win that game.  I mean the jerseys are magic right?  If you spend a week THINKING about and TALKING about THE COLOR OF YOUR JERSEY it has to be so hardcore that NO TEAM in the nation could come into your house and beat you like a red-headed stepchild right?

yeah, I’m not over it…. and won’t be until Georgia beats every other team this year… or until they play next year.

Georgia went into Tuscaloosa last year and beat Bama in OT on their first play (ONE AND DONE BABY!!) and they thought Bama would completely forget about it and just come in and play second-rate SEC football in Saban’s second season?  I don’t get paid to understand such things but I could have told ya that Bama has had that game circled on their calendar since that night in Tuscaloosa.. and it showed.

If you ask me the Saban/animal cruelty jokes were deserved… and FITTING cause they were true.

On other notes…

Can someone help me understand how the end-of-days are not near when TN is the Vandy, Vandy is Florida and Florida is Alabama.. and Alabama will beat them all?

That is all I got and I don’t and can’t pretend to understand.  Hopefully some sanity will return to the SEC, except for florida… I hope they stay Vandy personally.

number 3!?

Yes.  Number 3 and that could be a stretch based on what we have seen so far.

To anyone reading this, if you are here you likely have an idea that I am a pretty big fan of the Dawgs but no homer am I.  I do my best to call things as I see them.  I will resist the urge to hop on a popular fanatical Georgia Football forum and bitch, whine and moan like the the state of Georgia Football is worse than the banking sector right now.  The sky is NOT falling but it sure isn’t all blue skies and warm sunshine either.

Through three games against sub-average NCAA to sub-average SEC teams Georgia has proven that they can score points against non-SEC defenses (sub-average NCAA at that) and that they struggle scoring points against a sub-average SEC team.  Georgia put something like 101 points on two sisters of the poor (sorry GA Southern, ya ain’t watcha’ used to be) but were trailing at the half to good ol’ South Cackylacky.  If you have listened to any of the fringe you will hear the excessive wide-receiver and running-back rotation comments.  You will hear that a few of our players should just pack it up and go home.

Georgia is 3-0.  They didn’t lose to South Carolina.  Was the team jacked to Celebration-levels this past Saturday?  Hell no.  Do I think those levels of energy can be sustained through a full season of games that this team faces? Nope.  Am I happy that the Dawgs limped their way back to Athens with a W over the Ollllllllllllllllllle Ball Coach?  Hell yeah.

What is going on with our Defensive Backs?  What is going on with no pass rush from our Defensive Line? WHAT THE HELL IS SO HARD about kickoff coverage?  I don’t know and I don’t pretend to know and it is above my pay grade.  If you just HAVE to have some answers there is a really popular forum where the theories abound… good luck with that.

What I do know (or think I do) is that Georgia is NOT the 3rd best team in the nation right now and to be honest it doesn’t really matter at this point in the season.  USC, Oklahoma, Missouri, LSU and even Bama are playing good ball.  Anyone could make an argument that ANY of them (I know, 2 of them are) could be ranked ahead of Georgia and have a leg to stand on.  Again, does it matter?  As a Georgia fans, all we can do is give Richt the faith he deserves because he has earned it.  I am sure he recognizes the possibilities in front of him, his coaches and this team and will do everything in his power to get this ship on the right track.  There is a helluva lot of football to be played and when the dust settles if Georgia can work its way through this season it will be hard to deny that they are one of, if not the best, football team in the nation… thing is.. one day.. one game at a time.  Let’s do our best to enjoy them!

GO DAWGS!!!
